And this surprises you?
<< <i>So what is the official word, greysheet or NN? >>
Depends. Are you buying or selling?

Throw any semi-key in any series in choice for grade, no problem with eye appeal up on the bay, watch the sheet go bye-bye.
It depends on the coin, and how often it actually trades. In some cases GS is over the market even at bid, in others multiples of ask is a major bargain.

I told you I would have paid you good money for it, but you turned me down...

Two people think that it is worth a lot more!! That is what this coin is worth, today.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

What do you think a VF30 is worth?

"Why did I sell that #$^%$ coin?"
And that is why I'll always be a wannabee as a coin seller (even if I were to get serious about coin selling, which I doubt).

The 1903-s is hard to find in lower grades too I've noticed.
I am the guilty party on that one. I wish I wouldnt have sold it after you sold it to me! I felt compelled to sell actually since the deal we had was part of the profit if it upgraded.
Oh well, it is in good hands with a good collector. There are more than a few coins that have passed through that I miss...

<< <i>These really do deserve these prices given their relative scarcity to other coin series. With that said, there are dates that are relative bargains right now by comparison, like the 1898-s, which I now own 2 of, one in PCGS XF-40, the other in PCGS VF-25. Got lucky with my timing. These are selling at a small fraction of the price with a similar scarcity.

Oh yes! The 98-S looks like a great deal to me. I always look for that coin.

This is exactly why I love my local dealer that has no clue of the real market and grabs the trusty GreySheet everytime I buy a coin.
If the cash went to another great coin, or to buy a house, or to pay for a college education, then there's nothing to regret.
But if that profit went to the girlfriend who has since left town, now that would be regretable.

Buying top quality Seated Dimes in Gem BU and Proof.
Buying great coins - monster eye appeal only.
Pure coincidence that the two highest bidders had bids ending in .99.

Rare in any grade. Makes me think that the price guide automatically populates prices for lower grades if there is only a record of sale for the mid grades.
