A crushing defeat! Did anyone here just get this '57 MS67 RB Lincoln?
If so, congrats. It looks like a beauty and I was already planning out what to sell to explain the cost to my wife...haha. Thought I had it with the high bid and 8 seconds left. What are your all's thoughts regarding the price it went for as compared to a 67 Red which is listed as a $10k coin?

<< <i>I think that the 67RB is a steal at that price. Afterall, crayola toned Lincoln's in that grade just do not come around that often.
My one concern was that the "O" looked a bit weak on the reverse and it has some spotting that seemed a touch much for a 67. But if it's a legit 67 in hand than I think it's a steal too compared to the price of red 67.
<< <i>Yeah I won the coin, It was going for less than a $100 within the last few minutes, bidding went crazy in the last minute >>
Yeah I saw it sitting there for a while and wasn't sure what to expect and then it just went bonkers. Congrats on getting the coin!
...guess I just don't "get it."
<< <i>35-cents, tops + cost of a plastic holder and label. Rolls and bags available.... Do not understand the point of squandering money to get Pillsbury Dough-Boy points.....

I guess not...no offense meant or taken. If you come across "bags and rolls" that look like that, PM me.

Thats a pop 4 coin, I think that counts for something

I hear what you are saying. But if you have rolls and bags with 1957 Lincoln Cents that look like the coin below, please send them to me at .35 apiece. In fact, I'll pay you $10 apiece.

I actually offered the buyer $60 to let me keep it but he wanted the coin more than the money so off it went for $22 frickin dollars.....................LESSON LEARNED
Edited to add: I just noticed the sequential Cert #'s on these two coins?
<< <i>I pulled a better one out of an original mint set about 4 years ago.....came back 67RB from NGC with monster toning and the best luster I have ever seen on a Lincoln cent. I threw it on Ebay with no reserve and waited for my windfall..............the coin sold for $22 and to say I was shocked would be an understatement
Shane, I know this one's a "D" mint, but still...
Pretty decent closing price on an NGC MS67 RB on Teletrade!

the power of plastic. number one reason i am stopping on coin buying.
things have gotten out of hand price wise. i see rolls of this date
at antique stores for 5 bucks a whack.
do i wish to buy them in hopes of finding one just as nice? no.
do i think i could find multiple 65s? yes.
good luck getting your money back in a few years. you will need it.
coin prices dont always go up...

The "O" is fine and the strike is above avg for the date, having said that I would'nt go that much for it. The numurous carbon flecks and noticable ding on Abe's shoulder should have limited it to a 66 imo. But colorfull toining has been the rage for some time bringing premium grading/pricing many times; and if the new owner is happy that is all that really matters

I agree.
A nice uncirculated example (MS63-65) can be found raw for under $5 and that is paying too much. I do not get it why the plastic and label is so important.

Currently pop 4. Lots of late date wheatie rolls that haven't been cracked open yet and were socked away UNC when they came out. Lots of mint sets in public hands outside the mainstream hobby too.
Attractive coin nonetheless. As for this being just a plastic registry thing, I sold a similarly toned raw UNC 31-S a while back on eBay and was shocked at the bidding. It was about MS64 in my estimation though.
