Would you or wouldn't you? eBay ?

I just received an offer on my auction.

The bidder has Private feedback.
He has 0 transactions the last month and 3 over the last 6 months.
His feedback shows it as 100% for the last year with 31 transactions.

I have blocked him temporarily (so he can't BIN) until I decide what to do.

What would you do?

Joe

    Joe,
I would never turn down a purchase based on feedback. I can watch out for myself. He sends the money, I ship the coin. other than that, I still have the coin. Of course i'll be more careful with a guy with private feedback. --Jerry

I wouldn't block this ebayer based on his feedback.

Another thought: I sell off ebay. I don't have ebay feedback numbers to review when I sell to a non-ebay customer. Ebay tries somewhat successfully to brainwash people to believing that the only safe way to sell or buy is on ebay. Sure the feedback system is valuable but a businessperson needs to be able to function outside of it. --Jerry

People have gotten way too paranoid over whose trying to buy/bid on their eBay material.
  • I do not understand the problem? Does he not use American money? Everyone gets a chance until PROVEN otherwise.

I have recieved many offers on the website, some I accept, some I decline. I cannot review a buyers feedback on the website, and actually prefer to sell there.

If you're uncomfortable maybe it would be better if the buyer pays via money order only, no PayPal. Seems like all the issues regarding buyers involve PayPal/credit card chargebacks after the transaction goes down.

Thanks everyone, I was leaning the same way. The private feedback got me nervous.

I unblocked him and will accept the offer.

Oooops too late. As it turns out this offer came from the same person who offered yesterday using a different account and I gave him a counter offer.

Now he is upset and withdrew his current offer.

Maybe he is a board member and read this thread.
