Saga of the Larry Csonka card that wanted to be a PSA 10

There once was a BVG 9.5 1973 Larry Csonka that was bright shiny and sharp. Even though it was still a Gem Mint card, it still wasn't a "10". So it went to PSA TWICE and even though it was larger than 3.5 x 2.5 it was rejected as trimmed. Feeling that it's BVG case was being a hinderance, it shed it armor and went bacK to PSA where it was only honored with a 9 (12511751). Never one to give up with razor 10x corners and 45-65 centering, it went again to prove it's worthiness only to be smitten with a 6 (07237673) !!! Well it was obvious now to the card that luck of the draw was the rule of the graders at PSA and he plunged forth yet again and was rewarded with some of his honor back and an 8 (09167844) for his trouble. Stay tuned for this tale of bravery (stupidity) shall continue !!! Anybody else have issues with the awesome trained and equal grading skills of the untouchables at PSA, I'd love to hear about them.

One of the Frank and Son dealers told me that he had a card that was graded 5 times (he had the flips to prove it) where a 55 Topps common was graded 7, 2, 6, 5, 8.
  • Whoops, guess that should have been 55-45 huh...

Damn, 110 must be a sweet rarity. Be careful with those razor corners, I would hate to see you cut yourself.

image That's insane. I can understand 1 or 2 grades off, but 6?

Agreed, nothing like a new guy that can take some ribbing in stride. Welcome to the boards.

I'm no math major but I think a card could be 10 feet across and the centering %'s still need to add up to 100.

I have a similar saga beginning to unfold.
First it was a nice $16 PSA 9 Ebay pickup. Then it was cracked out and subbed on a Free voucher.
Now it's the nicest raw J.R. Richard rookie in existence.
I hate it when postal workers trim my cards.
