Line drive back up the middle, thank Jeebus it glances off his glove, smacks him in the face, within minutes gets back up, and then picks up his NL leading 15th save.

Pence said of Valverde's heroics, "one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on a baseball field''.

Valverde got that nickname while playing here for the Diamondbacks. I believe Jim Traber a TV broadcaster at the time called him that. Traber thought he was calling him Big Daddy....the actual translation is Big Potato.
