Will these Mays cards bump to 8.5?

Opinions welcomed.

The 63 has really sharp corners for an 8. With a 10x loupe you can make out minute touches on the extreme bottom corner tips. The flaws: Slight Tilt and right below the bat knob is one of those "little piece of somthing between cardboard layers bump".

I come up with 61/39 centering on the 62 Mays. It is really clean also with a slight touch bottom right. Will the OC hold it back?

The print lline across the bottom of the '62 Mays will probably keep it from bumping. I'd say the '63 has a 50/50 chance. Good luck!
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • ditto on the '62. The '63 looks better than an 8 to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did -- that's the whole point of the half-point grades, to reward premium cards that look like, but aren't quite, the next grade up. Both are very sweet!

Amazing registration on that 62 though. Very, very crisp.

Reminds me of the old CSA PQ (Premium Quality) designation.

Agree Mike and I know you know 62s very well. That Mays is notorious for print issues too. I felt the eye appeal and sharp corners might override the slight oc. Still, I am leaning toward just sending in the 63 Mays for an attempted bump. Thanks to all for your responses!
