A very different '21-S Lincoln. Grade it!

I came across this 1921-S on ebay. A Heritage auction, no less. Can you guess the grade assigned by NGC? Below the pix is a link to the actual auction, if you're just dying to know.

That's the kind of coin that destroys the reputation of the grading service that slabbed it. It should have been bodybagged for negative eye appeal.

I haven't looked at the auction link, but it appears to be a mid-grade MS coin with woodgrain toning. There is nothing wrong with certifying such coins, you simply have to remember that the image is quite poor.

I don't think it's the coin that's bad as much as the photo. Without peeking I bet that coin graded 65RB.

    I'm guessing it didn't get a Star?

I would guess it's a low grade MS but there's no way to grade it from this photo.

I'll be the oddball and say I love it. I need that date for my woody set.
Tough to grade from pics so I'll decline

Beautiful! I love wood grain toning. I'm sure it's a lot better looking in person.
