Old Medal or Token ID

Can anyone ID this old medal or token which is a bit larger than a U.S. Nickel. . Obvers side (Female face) says "SARMARIE-JOSE" at left edge- The initials "VR" are on the bottom edge near the rim. The reverse has letters "TU" at top and "DE BONTE" below center. There is a band of discoloration or ware acoss the center which covers some other writing.
