  • Alan,
Congratulations! It must be a rush to complete the No. 1 set and to have gone full circle and sold it as well! With out tring to pry, was it sold to one of the bidders from the auction? Did you get your reserve or close to it? When you delete the set does it stay in the "All Time Finest"? I think it does from what I have read?image

    Nice job!imageimageimage

    Alan:

Forget the congratulations and all the rest of the niceties to cut to the chase scene: What are you going to collect next???

Now, more seriously, congratulations on selling a very fine set. And, I sure hope you are planning to plug the $$$ back into another collection because I don't want to lose you from these boards. I am of two minds concerning a switch into Mercury dies--I'd value your insights/comments but shudder to think of your competition! But, I sure do hope you have plans to move to another set of coins!

    Congrats once more,

Guys, thanks for the warm wishes. They are very appreciated. You've heard this before: the terms of the sale are confidential, but I am happy about it.

So what's next? I don't want to "drive the price up" by tipping my hand early but the coins in the next set will have a smaller circumferance, and a smaller quantity of precious metal.

And yes, I understand the set will remain in the "all time finest" listing.

    cheers, alan
  • Electromagnetically shrunken SBAs? I know I'm stretching, just hoping to be a recipient of that cash burning a hole in your pocket. image

Ah gee Alan, you might well be moving to Merc's! Of course, if it's silver you are collecting, you might also be moving to trimes, half dimes, or WWII nickels. And, if it's gold, you could be looking at dollars, quarter eagles, half eagles, eagles (?) (I'm not sure if they have a smaller quantity of gold than quarters have of silver), or stellas.

Let's see, what can I tell you: All the Merc collectors (except me, of course) are incredibly mercenary and you can't trust them. Plus Mercs are way over-priced and ugly to boot.

Actually, I look forward to your next endeavor because you always bring fresh insights. I just hope you don't wait until your set is 100% before you reveal your hand and start talking about the coins...

Hi, payment has been received, the set has been sent off (registered, insured). The set has been deleted from the "current" list but remains (as it should) in the "all time finest list." Now, onto my next numismatic adventure! cheers, alan mendelson
