Gotta love it when this happens...

A longtime, high feedback seller lists an item for $299 BIN, with BO feature. You offer him $199, he turns it down and counter offers $250. The item doesn't sell, and is relisted the next week at a $9.99 start price. You bid and win the item for $176. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it is a nice feeling. image

BTW, the item is a game used NBA full uniform from a hometown hero (State Champs) and long time NBA player.

I've had that happen before as well. It is a good feeling. Of course mine was a card that I would have paid $20 for and got it for less than $15 but it still felt good.

Last week I asked a guy to end an auction early, and said I would pay $250. No deal. Set my snipe at $300+ and ended up winning it for $35. I guess it wasn't worth as much as I thought.

    I like when that happens.

Maybe after you get the item; you should email him back and
say "dont you wish you would of taken my $199 offer?"

I agree. This happened to me recently.

A card sold for $66 late last year (a shocking amount in my opinion).

Another reappears a couple weeks ago. I email the seller, asking if he'd just sell it to me (something I never do). He says "sure" and offers it for $5. I'm thrilled, and accept. He then changes his mind because there are several people watching the auction. I'm bummed, but completely understand, knowing full-well that he'll make much more than $5 by letting the auction run.

I set a pretty aggressive snipe and win the card.

    For 99 cents.

I, too, have had a recent run of good luck when buying on eBay. The past several cards that I've won at auction have all gone for 50-75% less than I was willing (or expected) to pay. Maybe card buyers are feeling a pinch from the lagging economy. Whatever the reason may be, I hope my luck continues.
