Scanner Help

Hello, I'm writing hoping someone can help.
I have an Epson CX6400 3 in 1, and my scanner doesn't focus on what I'd like
When I scan my PSA cards, it focuses on the plastic of the slab, not the card/label itself. I scan via photoshop. Here is an example of a scan

You need a scanner with a ccd scanning element "charged coupled device" These can scan 3d objects..

You might need a new scanner.

Im no expert, but I have the same problem, and its been talked about many times on other boards.

from what others have said....... You need a scanner that has CCD technology.

Many scanner have CIS (especially the "All in One's"), and this type doesnt provide the scan depth like CCD.

Here is a post for a few months ago.

Which scanner is the best for scanning cards??

I just recently bought an Epson V500 scanner and it works great! I've been using scanners and photoshop for over 10 years and this scanner really performs well. If you do a search in the forums there are a few good threads. I would consider Epson or Microtek if you are in the market.

    Best of luck!

    Hi MoRivera,
Are you wanting to just scan cards or do you want to scan photos and larger items as well? If so, you would want to get into an Epson - Perfection Flatbed Photo Scanner Model: V200, Canon - CanoScan Flatbed Scanner Model: 600F, maybe a HP Scanjet G4010 or G4050 Photo Scanner, or equiv. models. If you spend a bit more to get into one of those models, I would think you'd be happy. You could also buy the scanner you mentioned and try it out...If you buy it at a good place, they should let you exchange it if you are not happy.

    Best of luck to you.

If I was buying a scanner today I would buy this one - it has CCD for good scanning of graded cards.

    Epson Perfection V350 photo

Good scanner, 1yr warranty, refurbished so only $89 with free shipping!

Just out of curiosity, are you running on WinXP or Vista?
  • neither. I have a Mac
  • I don't see that much difference between the two Randy Moss Cards you posted.
Second one is a bit brighter. I used the cheapest Cannon Scanner from Wal-Mart and Shareware "PaintShop Pro" software.
Its all in getting the correct settings to begin with when you scan and Properly resizing, croping your scans.
I am more than happy with the quality of scans I can get with my cheap sanner vs any of the new fangled scanners.

  • Hello Big Red,

I am sorry to bother you. Did you use your cheap scanner and the software you mentioned for the card showing with your posting? That is one nice scan! Can you please tell me how you found the right setting to get such a great scan? I sure would appreciate any help you can offer.

    Thanks,
    James
