New Latin American Photos

Hello All,

I have added new photos to both the Honduras collection and the Costa Rica pride collection. In the Honduras collection I finally added an 1892 overdate peso, the finest known. In the Costa Rica Pride collection there are a couple of gold coin pictures posted and two more error coin pictures. I know there is a market for error coins. What about Latin Ameirican errors especially from Costa Rica? I plan on getting some more errors graded in about 60 days from now. You know how long it can take to get PCGS to grade errors!? My dealings with them is that this is the slowest category known to man. Sure, I have had a few slow submissions but 60 to 75 calander days has been the norm when it comes to error grading. Enough ramblin' you get my drift. Enjoy the pics and as always if you have coins to sell from Costa Rica El Salvador and Honduras please let me know. Thanks.

Bad Errol, bad. Doesn't show a photo of an El Salvador flag peso. At least there were some magnificent Hondurans!

I like your sets, Errol image Sorry to hear about those turn-around times image

  • Yes, I need to scan the Salvadoran Flag pesos. I have two slabbed and one that was previoulsy cleaned and PCGS denied it. So there it sits not slabbed and sad. I need one more Salvadoran peso and that is the 1896. So if anyone has it I am interested. My set is not complete without that one. As far as the flag peso, I have the second best in the population report. In the CR collection I am the only one with a Jaguar slabbed. As far as the Honduran coins I own a lot of the nickel reales but still not complete. Anyone has any for sale let me know? Lastly, I am in Baghdad and my coin collection is in another place...some day I plan on putting ALL images up.

    Nice sets Errol,

I can see why you're a proud owner - though I do have a request:
Please show more coin pixels and less slab pixels image

Any interest in the Central American Republic issues? (a favorite of mine)
  • I clicked on the Numis Vista link and it does not have features for Latin American coins, just American and GB coins. I only have one cuartillo 1/4 real slabbed from the Central American mint. Have taken a look recently at www.ha.com? They have tons of Central American 8 reales both slabbed and in raw format.

Ya - a bunch of slackers image There's no official country data yet for South or Central America so I add a new country entry if I need it and the denomination, type, mint/privy mark info as the coins I get require.

I've never gotten into Heritage auctions myself, I've always felt there items were very nice but the hammer was too pricey.
  • Have you ever checked out www.ponterio.com ? I have won some auctions over the years with them and have gotten them slabbed too. For example the 1892 cent from El Salvador was one of theirs and my 1900 2 Colones Gold from CR has been bought from them. And lastly the 1892/0 peso overdate from Honduras was bought from them. The hammer there may not be as hard as Heritage. Check em' out. Posted two modern proofs from Honduras that were recently slabbed.

I saved them as a favorite looks like they've had some nice pieces.
No new auctions till September though but I guess that's normal for this time of year.
