Anyone Want to Guess Why Topps Didn't Use This Photo?

Topps Vault is currently offering up this original 1968 color negative on eBay.

Anyone care to guess why it wasn't used?

  • Well the 666 on his jersey probably didn't help either.

That's the negative? Shouldn't the image be reversed?

Or are they selling a PRINT from the original negative?
  • Lightening bolts, the 3 6's, and the man between his legs?? Wow, alot going on there...

Looks like he is saying "everyone calm down, everthing is coming out nicely".

I'm going off of memory, cause it's been many years since I did advertising and catalogs, but I will try.
When you do negs/positive films, or color separations for printing they use either positives or negatives and that depends if it's 1 color up to 4 color. Additionally, it depends how they wanted the neg or pos. film, as either rred (righthand reading emulsion down) or rreu (righthand reading emulsion up). I used to deal directly with big magazines like Hot Rod and Super Chevy and they always had different requirements. It probably depended on software or printer type??? I don't know if that helps or confuses you. image

It could be a Positive Negative...????????????? Either way, it should look like the photo...I think?? lol

And if nothing makes sense, I guess I got one more post..image

If only Bill Buckner could have had a professional football player stuck up his exit hole . . . history would have been so different.

I'm soooo glad he did that in Boston and didn't do that when he was with the Dodgers....image
