Please educate me. What is a 1968 Topps "Milton Bradley" Nolan Ryan PSA 6 and why did it sell HERE for $1,280.76, e.g., about $1,000.00 more than what a regular PSA 6 commands? Thanks.
Milton Bradley put out a game that included some sports cards that essentially the same exact thing EXCEPT you can tell which are Milton Bradley by a much darker colored back. They still have the same Topps copywrite. There used to be a thread here somewhere on it that showed the differences. I think that thread was from a couple of years ago.
I collect Seattle Pilots autographs, 1969 Topps autographs, Signed Mickey Mantle Home Run History cards and have a JC Martin collection (he was my college Baseball coach) Doug
I know it's expensive enough that my snipe failed at $1177.87 and I was mad at myself for not setting it higher. Good for the seller, it went from $500 or so to 1200 or so in a minute. Good seller, everybody ended up happy here I think.
Ridiculously over-priced, the 1968 MB cards are not that scarce and can often be found still intact in unopened sets and almost always in high grade.
Heritage recently sold a complete set with the cards, I don't remember the price, but it was way less than what the Ryan went for, and the MB set includes many other stars.
I have a Nolan Ryan / Koosman Milton Bradley card graded by Beckett. However, Beckett labeled it as such. Only 9 are in the graded Beckett inventory. I wonder why PSA did not note that it was a Milton Bradley Nolan Ryan rookie? The cards were supplied by Topps, however, they were printed with a brighter color yellow background.
Is the market really fetching $1280 for this card?...or is it because PSA did not label it properly?
I don't know about the heritage set but the full game with the sealed cards definately sells for more than 1280 . This was way over priced , just look at all the ryan's that show up on ebay and you will find one and pay the going rate. the cards aren't easy or overly difficult but can be found in dealer inventories or shows. the 1st one that beckett labeled was a 7.5 and it sold for about 650 bucks in mile high a few years ago
There are 0 Nolan Ryan Topps Milton Bradley cards on ebay. The Beckett population is only 9 (they label them "1968 Topps Milton Bradley Jerry Koosman-Nolan Ryan"). What would you value this card at? The only one I have seen sell on ebay was this one for $1280 (even though it was not labeled as such)......Milton Bradley Nolan Ryan
Do you have a link to any others that have sold? I have seen them on a number of wish lists around these here Internet's, but few suppliers.
the cards have been long mixed in with regular topps cards as they were not labeled and no one really knew the difference. I witnessed a top ryan collector bought a psa 6 for 400 at a show a year and a half ago and the seller was happy and probably thought he was making a score getting that much for his psa 6. another top ryan collector was looking for one and once it was determined what the distinguishing features were, the one he always had was a milton bradley.
From Mile High 435 1968 Topps Milton Bradley #177 Nolan Ryan BVG 7.5 NM+ $793.98
I accidentally bought one on ebay. I bought a lot of ungraded Nolan cards that included the Rookie. I immediately sent it into Beckett because it looked like a fake (due to the border on the front and odd color back). When I got it back and found out it was a Milton Bradley, I really had no idea what I had until I did a little research. I was upset at first, but now I think I actually have something worth more than just the rookie card.
As far as I can tell, Topps printed a special batch of 1968 cards for the Milton Bradley game pictured below (game came out in 1969). They ended up using a different dye lot on the back for whatever reason and when the cards were cut from the sheet, they were a little off...leaving a strip of the neighboring card on one side.
Overrated. They can still be found mixed in old Topps collections and even on Card Show tables. It used to be just a slight color variation on the back.
I have a Brooks Robinson Milton Bradley card-I got it from a dealer in the mail from Downtown Boston- I think this guy has a store front-a google search of baseball cards boston might give you a couple of dealers to try if your looking for one....I wish I could think of his name, but I am drawing a blank

It looks like one has found it's way on ebay. BVG 6.5 starting at $650. It has two days left, how much do you think it will go for? LINK Anyone ever dealt with prescott sports cards in Mesa Arizona?

Yes I have. You would have no problems dealing w/ him.
I have the exact same card coming back from BVG rated a 3....I was thinking of putting it on Ebay for 99 cents and letting it run wild....would there be any interest if I did??

I am thinking about putting a BVG 5.5 up depending on how well yours does. Would you mind sending me a few of your top bidders who don't win when it is over?
There was a lady on the eBay board last month that posted a thread asking for help with an unopened 1968 Milton Bradley game she found at a garage sale for $10. She said she has an anitques shop and had no idea what the game was worth. I sent her an email offering her $100. She never responded.
With a reserve, as a bidder there's never that chance that you're going to get something for a steal. I'm the high bidder now but if the auction ended I still don't get the item. Not as exciting to know that I'd win but lose.
That said, I understand your reasoning for using one. I'm just giving you a hard time.

She must have wised up. That game sold at Heritage for $6,572.50

I understand that...but you may still get this one for a steal. The reserve is set for multiple times X less than what market value says its worth.
Last month...this Nolan Ryan Milton Bradley sold at Heritage for $1314.50...and it was GAI graded. Looking at it, I would not even classify it as a Milton Bradley as it does not have the white strip on the front. link
On the other hand, mine is by BVG and is the real deal...LINK

I recently send a Ryan rookie in and they did not grade it saying it was Milton Bradley and I had no idea what they were talking about till I started looking into it. I am going to call them and see if they will grade it if I send it back in and label it correctly.

<< <i>Apparently she did some research. I suggested on the thread that she send all the cards in to BGS. How much would a BGS 8 or 9 Ryan bring? >>
The population only stands at 17. There is no 9 or 10. 8 = 1. 7.5=2. 7=1. 6.5 =1. 6 = 3. and my 5.5 = 1. 5.0 = 1
There are 7, 4.0 and lower. PSA does not make a distinction....so the 17 that exist with BVG are really the only legit, graded ones in existence.
You got a mixture of trading cards.
