Coin guy looking for Card help....

Hello All-

I mainly play on the coin forum and was looking for some help. My uncle is moving and has the following cards he offered to me. I was big into the cards when I was young but have not looked at them in some time. I am a Big Mattingly fan and still love the Donruss rookie I have. Anyways I assume his cards are the type of sets you would have bought at a price club or Coscto. Most are sealed in plastic. Any help on possible values? (Which I dont expect to be high) Or is there a good webpage to look at for this? Please let me know if I can provide more info...

Here are the sets: The first group seems like a lot for a set but what do I know....

1987 Don Russ - opened - 2,142 cards
1987 Topps - opened - 2,649
1988 Score - opened - 1,820
1989 Bowman - opened - 431
1989 Donruss - opened - 540
1989 Score - opened - 576
1990 Topps - opened - 1,152

1987 Topps - 792 cards sealed
1988 Topss - 792 cards sealed
1988 Score - 660 player cards and 56 magic motion trivia card sealed
1989 Score - 660 player cards and 56 magic motion trivia card sealed
1990 Score - 704 player cards and 56 magic motion trivia cards sealed
1990 Topps - 792 cards sealed
1991 Score - 900 player cards and 72 magic motion trivia card sealed
1993 Topps - 825 cards sealed

Any help very appreciated!!

    Hi

When you say "offered" - do you mean he's giving them to you or selling them to you?

    If it's selling - I say pass.

    That stuff's not worth much.

    1987 Topps - 25
    1988 Topps - 15
    1988 Score - 9
    1989 Score - 10
    1990 Score - 8
    1990 Topps - 20
    1991 Score - 10
    1993 topps - 30

The are estimates based on the 07 Standard Cat of BB - the Beckett may give slightly different values - and there's sealed factory in hobby and retail on some issues but not worth getting into since we're talking about very little difference.

PS - a gigantic set would be 900 cards - many are in the 6 to 700 range so I'm not sure what the sizes are in the top list - must have duplicate cards or something - not sure.

Buying that stuff would probably not be a good expenditure.

Some of the wholesale boys want to pay about $10.00 for 10K cards.

You could try putting it on the BST board and see if anybody wanted
    to make an offer. Usually better to give it to GoodWill and get a tax-receipt;
you can safely declare its value at whatever the retail catalog says.
