Is this Memory Lane auction ever going to end?

I hate that stupid rule that the whole auction stays open until everything in it goes without a bid for 15 minutes. The damn thing ended nearly five hours ago and I guess I'll wait until morning to see if I won.

At least Mastro closes each individual item if it goes 30 minutes without a bid.

czar, I'm right there with you. I am the high bidder in one lot that hasn't seen a single bid in the past 9 days, let alone the past 7 hours since the auction "closed." This is the first time that I've participated in an online auction of this type, and it may be the last. I'm an impatient person by nature, so this is particularly painful.

  • I try to stay away from these auctions its frustrating, you have 2 weeks to bid and then it can drag on forever when it "ends".image

i dont like how the bids have to go up by a certain increment that increase each time the bid gets larger....

you may like a ball for 950 and would pay $975, but NOOOO, they make you bid $1045...they shuld have a set increment (like $20 bucks) that starys the same the whole auction....they may actually make more doing it this way because some people are hesitant to pay 10% above current bid...

I agree, at 1 am EST I just gave up, I can't stay awake that late.

I was ahead on several lots, and found out this am I was outbid after I went to bed.

This format is a real drawback for those of us on the east coast.

Just part of the stupidity of major auction houses.

I have to admit that, for the first time ever, I actually was watching an auction item. I was interested in the 1959 set. But as expected, my target price was hit last Wednesday and it's still going up. I really enjoyed the catalog but will likely never to bid at an auction house like this.

seven and one-half hours after the auction it finally ended. east coast, west coast, alaska or hawaii it still is way too long. this is by far the longest i ever had to wait.

i won a card that had not had a bid on it for over a week. they can wait an hour or two and then start closing these dead lots.

$96,000 (pre-juice) for the PSA 8 1952 Topps Mantle. Is that a record for that grade?
  • anyone care to make any small donations to a good fund?
  • I was high bidder on the 1959 Bazooka Aaron when I went to bed at 11pm PST, six hours after the auction "ended", only to get outbid while I was sleeping.....ridiculous!
  • I wish that individual items could end if no one has placed a bid on them for 30 minutes once an auction has supposedly closed. At least some guys could go to bed knowing if they had won something or not!

Running these auctions is like printing money only thing you could do that would be more of a sure thing is to start your own sugar refinery.
