29M FilAm 20 C Doubled Die???

This one seems to have nice doubling all the way around and the mint mark is barely visable in hand....Your thoughts........Rick

    I can certainly see the doubling that's for sure! Nice coinimage

    Edit to add: The coin doesn't look UNC to me as I see a lot of rub on the stars in the shield but that could be the photo too.

    It is not UNC. I would give it a high XF to Low AU..........Rick

    I think it is likely machine doubling...

  • Practically non-existant mint marks are common with US-PI coinage, especially when produced by the Manila Mint. Partially, this was due to the harder allow (75% Silver), and partially due to machinery of lower standard than that used by the US Mints on the mainland. It was sort of a mentality like, it's good enough for circulation in the Philippines, but it wouldn't do to produce the US coinage. I have some where the mint mart is completely missing, but those are likely from filled dies, since they were produced by the mint in San Francisco.

    The doubling is interesting though, and I have seldom seen it to that extent. I wouldn't be selling it if it were mine.
