Let me add a memorabilia topic - Twins Finally United! Dodgers and Yanks 1956 WS Press Pins

In the 50s, there was nothing better than having the neighborhood light up with excitement at WS time!
People would sit outside with their radios – transfixed on the WS – yes, not everyone had TV’s on my block – and I’m not even sure if it was on TV - for sure - every game?
Well, I have the ’55 set and have had the ’56 WS Dodger pin for years – but finally, thanx to ebay, it Siamese twin is now in my collection!
The ’56 Dodger pin was a major disappointment with press people – rather than the normal screw pin, they produced a tie pin. It was made by Dieges and Clust. Moreover, from what I understand, this was not popular with anyone and many wound up in the garbage. It’s reported that the pin is more rare than others for that reason. Even collectors seem to abhor the pin. Me? I like it! It’s part of the Dodger heritage – and I’m proud to have it in my collection.
Here's what the '56 Dodger WS pin looks like - I couldn't find the box that stuff was in so I copied this one:

And now the ’56 Yankee WS pin made by Balfour. There were a lot of fakes done but the fakes have a stick pin rather than a screwpin, and the stars are as large as the band on the hat:

I'm pretty sure only the Dodger and Yankee fans will know how I feel about having these pins. Those were two of the best years in NYC for a baby boomer!
Thanx for viewing.

I like the '56 pin designs better, but I prefer the '55 on field results.

But seriously, since I know nothing about press pins, all I can say is nice pins. Is there a market for these things? Back in the 80s and 90s it seemed like they could be had relatively inexpensively, but I do remember a few people collecting them.

I don't collect all press pins - I will pick one up if the price is right and it looks authentic.
My pins are themed around my favorite teams and events - companion pieces.
On value - that's correct - partly - in the late 80s - early 90s they were hot and then quickly fizzled.
There's a market for the more rare turn of the century pins but the postwar pins are way too plentiful.
Thanx Lee.

<< <i>Is there a website or something that shows what all the press pins (and perhaps WS rings?) looks like? >>

I can't remember if there's a web that has prices and the pics of all the pins.
Here's one that has some pics and the relative values of the pins.
Unfortunately - due to cost - the newer guides to memorabilia no long put pics of all the pins in it.
The 1988 Beckett Guide to Memorabilia does and I use it all the time.
A lot of the webs that talk about a specific pin will tell ya what to look out for.
As I had said about the '56 Yankee pin - the real one has a "threaded pin" while the knockoff is a needle sharp stick pin and the stars in the hat band fill the entire area which it doesn't in the real one.
Unfortunately all of these pins have been knocked off.
