Interesting Discovery/Tip

I'm sure this is old news to the veterns out there, but I thought this was worth posting for the newbies (like myself) out there.
The other day I was cataloguing the signals made by different types of coins as I waved them under my X-Terra. The plan was to take the list with me as I detected and hopefully I can avoid digging some junk! Anyway, I was getting typical readings for silver and clad coins, but when I waved a 1776 gold guinea under it, I got NO SIGNAL! The machine made NO sound!
At first I thought maybe my coin was a (gulp) fake, but then I realized I had descrimination on! I switched to all-metal mode and got a strong signal from the coin. I received a similar reading with a couple of pieces of gold jewelry as well, and signals that appeared erractic in descrimination mode seemed to clear up in all-metal mode.
So I guess the tip is to always detect in all-metal mode... you never know what you might miss!
