PCGS's turnaround times

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,586 ✭✭✭✭✭
Man, it's getting difficult to predict PCGS's turnaround times. Here are my last two non-5 day World coin submissions:

Date received: 3/6/08 Date shipped 5/9/08

Date received: 4/22/08 Date shipped 5/13/08 *Gold coins*

Two months for the fisrt one, 3 weeks for the second. Go figure.

This could be a potential indicator that graders have the ability to "pick and choose" the coins that they grade, based on their individual set of parameters. I've seen this happen quite a few times in the past with PCGS submissions and it's one of the things that irks me. PCGS can definitely benefit from bringing-in Business Process Improvement consultants to take a look at what is happening, which, in turn, will translate in greater customer satisfaction.

    Just my 2 kop.

by the turnaround times, it is obvious they use US coin graders a good deal of the time.

Don't you pay more to have gold coins graded?

Maybe the higher price gives you a better turn around time??

That might be true, but if I'm not mistaken Roman recently sent coins in at the higher level and still had to wait 2+ months.
