Don't look now Yankee and Red Sox fans, the Rays are for real!!!!
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."

They're even making wise moves off the field like signing Evan Longoria to a long term deal. I know they caught a lot of heat in the press for rolling out big bucks for a guy who only had played at that point 6 MLB games, but the truth is if they don't lock him up now they won't be able to afford him later. The Rays are going to have to make a lot of "bets" like that, but I think they'll be better for it.
Man, if they knew it was gonna be like this they woulda dropped the "Devil" from their name a long time ago!

I err. Pardon me please. The Rays are 1/2 game ahead of the Red Sox.

<< <i>I find myself rooting for the Rays when they aren't playing the Red Sox. But I've got to admit, even when they are playing the Red Sox I have a hard time just watching those games on TV. Their stadium is the most oppressively bleak stadium ever. It's simply no fun to watch a game be played there. I can't blame the good people of Tampa for staying away. I mean, if I was in Florida and I had a choice between sitting in a dingy looking, depressing, dank stadium for 4 hours and being outside in the beatiful Florida weather (for free) I think I'd choose staying outside. >>
Exactly, you've watched the games on TV. Stop being ignorant and posting opinions about something you haven't seen first person. Also, the stadium just presents poorly on TV due to lighting, it's much better in person. IF you lived in Florida you wouldn't be sitting outside in "beautiful" Florida weather. The only people that call our weather beautiful are tourists or....tourists. Most of the time in summertime it's 95 degrees with near 100% humidity and thunderstorms beginnning around 4 or 5 almost DAILY. You guys probably think we're outside all day with our shirts off and having a good ole time or something. I've got news for you, most of the time we're inside laughing at you idiots that come down here to get sunburnt and risk heat exhaustion, while we only go out if we have water near by us. I'm a Florida boy through and through and I'm used to it, but our weather is still a pain in the a** for many.
How much does a stadium matter to attendance anyways? Look at Pittsburgh. They have, I believe, a worse attendence than us or FL this year and they play in the BEST stadium in baseball! Not to mention the fact that they've had a fan base that has been around since the 50s and fans that pack the house for the Steelers right next door. THAT is a true problem.
Attendance problems lie much deeper than what you would think man, especially with the Rays.
I refuse to talk smack about something I can not control, so I won't address the performance of the team. However, I will say that people are changing. Interest is building and hopefully it's for the long haul. You Yankees, Sox, Dodgers, etc. fans could never imagine what it's like to build a fan base in the middle of "retirement country" where the people living here grew up fans of the Yanks some other "traditional" team.
I'm just proud to know that I stuck by this team through the 100 loss seasons and have been a true fan since 05 and will be forever.
