College Football 2008-the underrated surprises

coinkatcoinkat Posts: 23,114 ✭✭✭✭✭
Last year I posted the question in connection with which team would be a surprise and have a season much better than anticipated. Last year I predicted Illinois... and there were some other good suggestions including Missouri.

Okay, how about the surprise team for 2008?

I don't think either Illinois or Missouri qualifies... and lets do this before the sportwriters show their usual biases

I need to think about this one alittle more before making my suggestion/prediction

edoted to change 2009 to 2008...

I would suggest Minnesota BUT THEIR SCHEDULE IS SOOO BAD that I can not recommend them.

Their non conference schedule is really an embarrassment

  • Minnesota is horrible!! I think this new stadium is going to help tremendously with recruiting. Only one more season in the bubble! If the new stadium turns out to be as nice as the artist renderings, they'll have the nicest place in the Big Ten.

Minnesota was horrible and embarrassing... and that will change, but their non conference schedule will make any improvement difficult to measure.

Keep in mind... this is about finding a program in the dumps that could surprise... I am more inclined to say Notre Dame because things really can only improve after last season and the same can be said for the Golden Gophers.

I'd like to see USF build on a solid season last year and really have a good year. Time will tell
