Now I want to thank Sportscollectors.net for making me feel like an a$$...no "dec" next to Larry Sherry's name. I had asked Norm that if he sees his brother if he would ask him to also sign. Norm must be a very nice guy to send such a gracious note. He could have thought I was an ignorant POS...
SCN is pretty lax on updating deceased players, but they are quick to add the notation if you forward it to Jay. I don't think it's something that he spends too much time looking to do unless it is someone significant. I know it was difficult when I began my quest on the '48 Leaf Football project. I think I've found all of the living members, but sadly, there isn't a great resource that is easily seachable for players to find out if they are still living.
Nice to see that Norm was understanding. I recall being with a friend of mine at a show in late 1982 where Clete and Cloyd Boyer were signing and my friend committed the ultimate gafaw. When I was getting Clete to sign a Yankees project that I was working on, my friend (a huge Cardinals fan) asked them why Ken was with them. Unfortunately, Ken had passed away less than a month earlier and Clete just looked up with an incredulous stare and tears welled up in his eyes. Cloyd politely informed my friend that, "Ken recently passed and we wish he was here, too." A classy reply to an uncomfortable moment. We never let my friend live it down, but I'm sure he's having a good laugh with Ken, now...
Thank you Mark Grace...quick turn around! The think that has me curious is that neither are the original cards I mailed to him. My 88 Topps wasnt so well centered and he returned back a BEAT 88 Score rookie LOL Must be he had that laying around waiting for some sucker to mail him a nice minty one. The 88 Score was the one I wanted the most...I'll just use this one for trade and resend another minty one. Well, at least the 88 Topps Traded is better than the one I sent LOL
The same thing happened to me . Must have a stack of cards lying around incase he is not home so his wife or someone can just replace the unsigned ones with signed ones . Marcus Allen has done the same thing for years .

Took longer than usual from Feller. The way the envelope looked, it may have been held up with the PO cuz it was pretty dirtied up. Also, I bought the Mize privately. Right now, its my only Mize on a vintage card.

Great thread.
And yeah, I was pretty bummed and embarassed now with my request when I received that note. Norm's a class act for sure.
