1952 Topps Mantle question
Let's say that there is a 52 Mantle that is 100% authentic, no question about it. Let's say the blue background of this card was "colored in" many years ago with a blue marker of some sort. Will PSA holder it as "authentic" with the "colored in" background. Opinions needed. Thanks.

I have seen 'recolored' authentic examples.

I think that any card, not doctored should be a PSA 1, not authentic. We need some clarity on this, a had three SGC 1.5's come back as Authentic which basically wasted 60 PER CARD grading fees. Authentic shoul dbe for doctored cards only!

It would say authentic, but would not indicate it was recolored.
I disagree, last month Steve Hart sold one (actually 2) cards that said Authentic "recolored" one was a 52 Mantle, the
other a 52 Mays.
Then a week later Jackesq showed us yet another Mantle (authentic) recolored, or trimmed.

My understanding is that they will "authenticate" a card even if it's been 'modified' in some way - thus any card can be categorized as Authentic - whether it's recolored, trimmed or filled in or whatever?
Just my thought. But, a quick email should answer it fer sure.

If any more want to chime in, please do so.

I am working out the details now, but it looks like this card will be in my possession next week.
