1934-36 Diamond Stars

I have decided that this will be my next baseball set. I love the stars that it has in it, its low price compared to Goudeys, and I think they have a great look to them. I picked up a raw Kiki Cuyler just to get a feel for the set, and as soon as i finish off one of my current sets, i will dive into these.
Having said that, I'd like to see what i can learn about these cards before i start on it. I realize it might be googealbe (that should be a word), but we might as well talk some cards here.
Anyone completed or dabbled in this set before?
Besides the back color variations, are there any other variations or errors in the set? And are either of the colors more desireable?
Any ideaa on a price estimate it may take to do this set in a midgrade?
Anything else?
There hasnt been much for card talk lately, so hopefully this will get some responses.
Thanks in advance

There are two HOFer name variations:
The #36 Ernie Lombardi can be found with his first name misspelled as "Earnie" and also corrected as "Ernie"
The #54 Hank Greenberg has one variation with his last name misspelled as "Greenburg", as well as a correct version.
According to the Standard Catalog, both error versions are more expensive than the corrected ones.
Also, the last 24 cards in the set are a lot tougher to find than the rest.

<< <i>I've been collecting the Hall of Famers in the set for about the last 1 1/2 years, and absolutely love the colors in the set

Do we know why they are tougher? Did they make all cards all three years or did they come out in series with different players coming out each year?

<< <i>Fantastic set. I hope your are not a variation freak. There are a few expensive variations or errors. Also, many cards were printed in 34, 35 and 36 with different colored backs. Completing a standard set is challenging, but very achievable and economical. Doing a full variation/error set with duplicates of every card for each year printed can be a pain. >>
I planned on just getting one of every player, i might chase colors, but i doubt I chase years and colors. So is there a possibility of 6 variations of each card? (2 colors x 3 years ?)

I don't know anything about the set - but I think it's good looking - with the pastel colors.
My favorite card is Jimmie Foxx - I wish ya luck.
Here's a guy who has the entire base set scanned.

The most variations for any one card is three. There are 108 cards in the set, but with all variations, the number jumps to 170.
Cards 1-24 have either 2 or 3 variations per card.
Cards 26, 30, 31, 36 and 54 have two variations each.
Cards 73-84 have three variations each.
Cards, 25, 27, 28, 29, 32-35, 37-53, 55-72 and 85-108 have no variations.
Regarding the last 24 cards, they were apparently only issued in 1936, whereas the others were issued in at least two of the three years.

2 other minor HOF variations....
#30 Heinie Manush...with a "W" on his sleave (1935 with Washington) and without a "W" on his sleave (1936 with Boston).....No 'W' is harder to find.
#31 Kiki Cuyler....team on back is listed as the "Cubs" (1935) and "Reds" (1936).....Reds is harder to find.
1934-1936 100% Registry Set (not my set)
One of my favorite sets of all time. Also a set that many PSA labels have incorrect years on them.
