Ever see this overdate? 1393/1893

This is a cool overdate.
I can see screwing up and punching in a 3 in error then correcting it with the correct number.
But this one had the correct date and someone decided to re-punch this with the incorrect date over the correct one????

  • I could see the case where the correct 8 was on the hub but transferred to the working die weakly. The mint worker tried to grab an 8 punch to fix it, but accidently got a 3 instead. In other words, he wasn't trying to change the date, but he was trying to strengthen it.
Similiar phenomenon occurred on British Mint issues of the 19th century.

The meaning of life ? I don't know but I am sure that coins have something to do with it.
