I have 3 1/1 cards. 2 are press plates (Juan Encarnacion pulled from Topps Total BB, and Ryan Shealy as a NPN from Topps Pristine BB), and the third is a Steve Blake Finest Gold Refractor rookie, found in a dealer's dime box.

Population report 1/1 is not that meaningful - especially as 1/1 turns into 1/2, 1/3, etc.

The only PSA 9 true rookie card (and only centered copy I've ever seen) for HOF QB Warren Moon...

"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I own a complete set of 1993 Finest jumbo All-Stars; all of which are pratically flawless. Only about 1455 of each card exist and to get the whole set for only $160 was a steal.

This one is mislabeled by PSA, but they cannot determine what it is, so they won't correct the label. Some sort of Test Issue 1970 MLB Photostamp???

    The PSA 9 is a 1 of 1, the PSA 8 is a 1 of 2...

    The only PSA 10...

    A 1 of 1 Graded a PSA 10...

This is the rarest card that I own. It's the only Mint graded example by any of the companies. There are PSA 8's and 8.5's and SGC 8's but this is the only 9.

    image

Sorry for the poor scan. My scanner doesn't do well with SGC cards.

This 0/0 and 1/1 discussion reminds me to the question ... why does anybody do [fill in any activity] ... and the lame response ... "because they can."

Everytime I hear that, I ask myself ... in the history of mankind ... how many people have done something ... that they CAN'T DO? Of course, the answer to that question is ZERO.

According to the pop report, it's this one--a PSA 4 but the only one graded.

  • In 1972, a set was released called the Hitmakers. The set featured the "top" music acts in rock, country and R&B. The first series consists of 36 cards. A complete first series is tough to put together. A second series (or some cards for a second series) was produced but never released. I have been working on this set for over 10 years and have located only 3 cards from the 2nd series. Here is one of the cards from the 2nd series:

Mine is a 1966 OPC Pete Rose wrongback with Walt Alston on back. Since 2003 I have not seen another on the bay but I did see a Walt Alston Topps with Pete on back being sold for 75 but I passed. I regret not buying it.

BDB, is that all free space in the dixie lid holder? If so, does it move around in there very easily?

    Nick,
No SGC's black insert is custom cut to perfectly fit the shape of it.

Wow, I can't even see that it's sitting in a cut out. That's a great fit. Nice.

Edited to add: But the writing on the flip is OC top to bottom. image

BDB, did you see that Shotwell's Red Grange candy box on eBay? Awesome rarity, but I was surprised to see it hammer in excess of $1,500.

I have a couple dozen vintage cards that are one of a kind.

I have about 10 1921 Herpolsheimer cards (all cards from this set are unique).
Also one of my favorites is the 1959 Esslinger Beer Home Run Derby Hank Aaron that I have, its also a unique example recently discovered.

I would post scans but my website server is on the blink

Not sure how many of these are graded. Proof that rare doesn't always mean valuable. Isbell was one of the Green Bay Packers early star QBs and threw many of Don Hutson's touchdown catches.

I'm not sure if this is the rarest piece I own as I don't have any idea how many are floating around out there. It is my favorite pre war piece.
