It is a light charcoal pink on the obverse and reverse and is heavier than the other two I own (one a bronze with Goetz stamped on the edge and the other a darker copper that is quite thin).

Man, this one is even more funkified than the British copies...I was talking to someone today who mentioned two brothers that were making fakes of the medal and I would have to say this might be a copy by them. Never seen this one before but the skeleton and the dude on the far left aren't even close....and look at the water on the obverse.....heh heh...stick with the ones that have an edge-punch.

I think that there's no need for the '...heh heh...' if the medal is indeed a copy. I'm sure braddick would be fairly peeved if the medal is a copy so no need to rub salt into the wound imo.
The meaning of life ? I don't know but I am sure that coins have something to do with it.

Give me a break...that was the LAST thing I was trying to do.... all I was saying is that he has an original Goetz piece and the intelligence to discern between an obvious spin-off piece and his original.

While we're on the subject....any of the so-called 'WWII zinc strikes' currently being offered on Ebay by one seller in particular are ALL aftercasts. Goetz didn't cast zinc pieces and these are all cast. Additionally, they are mushy from being copied from the original pieces. The seller should know this but has failed to mention they are aftercasts and NOT rare varieties. Don't waste your money.

Thanks for the info, Cacheman! Are there genuine Gotz varieties of this medal? And would these varieties be limited to only the type of metal, or include re-engraved elements?
  • Cm - my apologies if I misread your post.
