    mmmm..... donuts!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Fox is famous for running series' loooooong past their prime. I'm surprised 21 Jumpstreet isn't still being filmed.

They're holding out another two years to make The Simpsons the longest running non-news prime time series* ever, both in number of seasons and number of episodes -- take that Ozzie & Harriet Nelson!!!

    * Does not count news shows like 60 Mins and Meet the Press (which I think is the all-time record holder), reality series like Cops, daytime soaps, game shows, etc.

They probably would, but Johnny Depp jumped ship because he didn't want to be typecast as a "pretty boy."

Nahhh, merely weak for much of that time. Only "absolutely terrible" for the past 2 or 3.

For me it was Season 10 where the cracks in the dam started forming...by season 11, the dam burst. I have the first 10 seasons on DVD and don't plan to buy anymore.

This is cool. It's about time they come out of the coin collecting closet. Bort
is probably the only ten year old in the country who's been interested in coins
for more than 15 years. image

There are still lots of good episodes but you have to watch nearly 15 minutes
of ads to see one. image

Won't miss it, never have watched an episode and needless to say won't start now. Did not like the ads for it when it started, and I still don’t.

Same reason everything gets cut and Twilight Zone episodes that used to be 28 minutes are as short as 18 minutes; to get in more ads.

The trailer they are playing here makes it sounds like Bart/Homer are pursuing a single coin - some rare variety, rather than a collection. Well, we shall see shortly image
  • "Did not like the ads for it when it started, and I still don’t."

    very bizzare.

Easily one of the hippest and funniest shows to ever grace Network TV. It's skewering of pop culture while itself being a pop-culture icon is delicously ironic.
  • As I posted the other day, here, Marge and Homer seek the ever elusive 'Smooching Lincoln Penny'.

    Oops.

It looks like the Simpsons are going to start at 7:05 instead of 8:05 central.

The "missing coin" is a 1917 Kissing Lincolns cent, some sort of inverted flipover double strike where two busts of Lincoln appear, kissing each other.
  • ManorcourtmanManorcourtman Posts: 8,133 ✭✭✭✭✭
He also has a type set Dansco that he filled except for the smoochie Lincoln!!

Mr. Burns buy the "Kissing Lincolns" cent for $10M.
  • tightbudgettightbudget Posts: 7,299 ✭✭✭
Homer then pleads with Mr. Burns to give him the coin for free. Mr. Burns rejects. Homer then asks Mr. Burns to break a nickel into five pennies. Mr. Burns accepts and laughs because he only gave Home four cents. However, one of those cents was the Kissing Abe Penny. The album is filled and put on a shelf to be forgotten about.

Anyone found the kissing Lincoln yet?
  • MercMerc Posts: 1,646 ✭✭
I saw the show last night but didn't read this post until now. I didn't know the Simpsons was going to have a coin collecting show! Homer and Bart fill an album. The show writer knew coins too. Bart found a 1863 Confederate cent. Then there is a 1917 double die Lincoln. They changed it to a 1917 double struck "kissing Lincoln" That would be a cool error coin.

Actually, it was an 1863 Confederate Half Dime.
