--I wonder how Lebron James has any fingernails left. Even in blowouts, he ensures that every game is a nail biter.
--The trade of Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol is interesting for a reason other than trying to figure out what in the world Memphis was thinking. The year Brown was the #1 pick by the Wizards, and the first high school player taken #1 Overall, Gasol was the #3 pick, and would have been the first international player taken #1 if Michael Jordan hadn't decided Brown was the future of the team.
--Look at the list of NBA MVP voting for this year, and what jumps out at you?
Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers 82 32 11 2 - 1105
Chris Paul, New Orleans 28 64 31 2 - 889
Kevin Garnett, Boston 15 23 56 26 1 670
LeBron James, Cleveland 1 7 28 77 8 438
Dwight Howard, Orlando - - - 7 39 60
Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix - - - 3 18 27
Tim Duncan, San Antonio - - - 2 19 25
Tracy McGrady, Houston - - - 2 13 19
Steve Nash, Phoenix - - - 4 6 18
Manu Ginobili, San Antonio - - - - 9 9
Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas - - - - 5 5
Only three of the players in the top 10 in voting, went to college (Paul, Duncan, and Nash). What does that say about the success rate of those elite high school and international players who forego college for their NBA dreams? And of those three Duncan and Nash have each won two MVP's.
-- I wonder if the Clippers will sign and trade Elton Brand to the Wizards, who would sign and trade Gilbert Arenas, an LA native?
