can anyone tell me what this coin is? I don't know about non US coins-but i think its british?--thanks

It is a Great Britain shilling. It appears to have been cleaned very well. -Dan

Actually, it appears to have been turned into the base of a cup or bowl.
Assuming it's genuine, an undamaged shilling in that condition might catalogue at $25 to $50 or more. Now, it's just part of the silverware...
It could, of course, be a replica, made specifically for this use. I've seen fake Panama balboas turned into bowls and plate decorations...
