Cool contemporary counterfeit Victorian Indian Rupee

I stumbled over this on eBay. Does anyone know how common counterfeit rupees are? Also, how can you tell the difference between a contemporary counterfeit and one newly made in China?

Don't know. If I'd just seen the picture, I'd have guessed it to be a Chinese job. It has the poorly rendered face, simple hair and slightly wonky lettering I've noticed on the poorer kinds of Chinese fakes.
