German Empire coin questions ...

Ran across some apparently nice German Empire, but thought I would ask for opinions here as some of them seem a bit ... funky ...

Cleaned???

GERMANY-SAXE WEIMAR-EISENACH 1910A 3 Mark Silver XF

Artificially toned???

GERMANY-SAXONY 1909E 2 Mark Leipzig Silver XF-AU

Cleaned???

GERMANY-WURTTEMBERG 1914F 3 Mark Silver AU-Unc

The same seller also has about eight or so Edward V Maundy coins listed which are really hard to tell on some of them because of the reflection from the light used to take the photographs.

It's very hard to tell from the photographs... I get the feeling that the same coins, photographed from a slightly different angle, would each appear completely different.

The first and third ones may have been washed, not necessarily polished with an abrasive. Those small spots might be the start of tarnish or toning, or they might be spots missed during cleaning... the photos don't tell much!

Can't tell anything from those pictures... which may be the intent.

The 1st one seller states it's cleaned. The 2nd one looks like it could be album toning. The 3rd one looks bright white - it may have been dipped but no way to know except in hand.

I have purchased from this seller a couple of times, items were much better looking in hand and as described.
