How's their grading? There are a couple of interesting pieces I wouldn't mind going after.

As far as Philippine coins are concerned, he has been right on the grade he assigned.
This time I picked up two certified coins and one raw. Other member here on board can tell you more when they chime in.

Karl is a/the authenticator of foreign coins for PCGS and may have graded a coin or two for PCGS He is also a expert in the US on Polish coins. 3Mark

I scored 6/10 this time, better than usual.

I agree that Karl's grading has been spot-on for the pieces I've purchased over the years.

the last piece i got, was cleaned and wasn't disclosed (was listed in the ad as 'nice BU, great luster')

edited to say: the "last piece" was also the first time i ordered. I don't see myself making that mistake again. It doesn't look good for a grader/authenticator of a major TPG to be selling coins without listing their problems.

I placed one order with him. 50% of the coins, Canadian, I ordered were cleaned and not listed as such. It seems many other collectors have had better expeiences than me.

Yeah! I got 2 of 2 for German porcelain coins (well, one coin and one set).

Regarding experiences with Karl...I have had great luck with him (other than several of the pieces that interest me, such as German patterns, go quickly). His grading is realistic and as accurate as most. He is one of the few dealers from whom I can confidently order coins raw without images.

But he is top notch, and the first and last table I visit at shows. And I have yet to pass on any of his lists.
