Unusual Numismatic collections (with a Giveaway)

I recently won a giveaway of a couple of great Books. As a thank you, I will have a giveaway of my own.

I have a tendency to become interested in, and collect unusual numismatic items. I recently began working on coins from the country of Bhutan. Most people can’t tell you anything about it, or even know where it is.

I collect Swedish Plate Money, Viking Ships on Coins & Medals, and I also have a collection of Notgeld from Schleswig Holstein during the German / Danish Plebiscite of 1920. I forgot to mention that I also collect Parthenian coins. I find pleasure in, & enjoy each of these collections for different reasons.

Post something you collect that is unusual, and you might win the following coins.

They are all Norwegian Uncirculated

image 1, 2, & 5 Øre Bronze All 3 are 1963
image 10, 25, & 50 Øre CN All 3 are 1964

I will ship them anywhere in US, or overseas for you.

I will randomly draw a name on the 17th of May, (Norwegian Independence day) and you will win all 6 coins.

Good Luck,

Bob
I like Ikes!! But I especially like Viking Ships, Swedish Plate Money, and all coins Scandinavian.

Most know that I collect BBL's, Lions and Cars on coins. I find theme collecting gives a much wider variety of countries and styles.

I'm trying for a 1 per country collection. I don't know how many coins I could eventually end up with or ever finish it nor do I know how unusual it is. But if nothing else it is a challenge.

I currently have 3 main collections that I am working on: Conder tokens, 18th & 19th century European medals, especially the cathedral medals of Weiner and 1 from every country/name change/monetary reform.

The last one allows me to buy a coin when I need a fix and can't find anything decent for collections 1 & 2 image

  • I have recently decided to start collecting world gold coins, but only those under 1/4 ounce. Although that is mainly because I can't afford much more right now, I really like small gold coins for some reason.

I collect wildlife/animals/birds coins from all over. I also have a fascination with the Arctic and collect coins from the countries that surround it; Russia, U.S., Canada, Greenland, Norway. I was amazed to see a giveaway that fits what I collect.
    Thanks for the chance!

don't know if it's unusual or not but I'm working on a 20th century copper-only typeset for the African continent. If/when I finish this, I will move on to copper typesets for the rest of the world...

I guess it is more along the lines of exonumia but I collect military challenge coins (primarily Air Force). This is the final artwork for one I just designed and had minted for a non-profit I work with. All my actual photos are on my home computer and I can't access them from my office.

I'd like to enter stork ,who might be yeti, but she collects the most original theme, naked guys. image I love the humour in it,and it also contains such classics as St George and the dragon, so you can imagine the possibilities.

<< <i>but she collects the most original theme, naked guys. >>

Hey, I only started that in response to all the guys who (for awhile anyway) were collecting the BBLs image. Actually, I've gotten some pretty cool coins from that idea. There's a couple contenders in the upcoming LongBeach/preLong Beach catalogs that I've been debating over.

Just for the record though I'm also collecting a Japanese type set (Dansco, plus a few special ones in slabs and raw) which is nearly complete but in need of a couple of upgrades. Also, the mommy/baby medals, plus I've drifted into some of the French territories just for fun. I'm now in the market for greyhound themed coins/medals as well. I also have a US 7070 album going too, but I haven't touched it in ages.

I have put aside the one-from-every-country theme though...I couldn't stick to that 'one' concept when I found a cool set of coins and my lack of imagination to come up with a proper storage or display discouraged me --for now.

I think there are a few other guys out there with interesting collecting themes, like Dimitri and some of his lovelies. So, now that I have found this thread TTT for more!

image Your getting into one of my territories also - don't tell me I'm going to have to compete with the shelligacat ( I know that's not how you spell your alter ego) on the bay of E.

I don't know how unusual this is, but I have put together a complete set of coins from Portuguese Timor. It just seemed like an interesting challenge.

I'm working on a set of NGC/PCGS MS69 Silver Britannias. I suppose that as conditional rarities, that makes them somewhat unusual. I haven't bumped into anyone else who's got as many as I do (I'm two dates away from a complete set - 2007 and 2008).
