I caught a Roosie cert# thief across the street! READ LAST POST!

StoogeStooge Posts: 4,668 ✭✭✭✭✭
Is this what some do over there? They steal cert#'s?

Everyone who knows me, knows that I list the cert#'s for my Roosies in my PCGS sets for everyone to see, not to use. Well I decided to list my Roosies over there just to see where my set would rank, and low and behold I have 19 coins listed in other sets.

It turns out that some of the coins I have had for over 5+ years in my set, since before the FB designation here at PCGS, in addition to a small handful of "Homemade" Dimes that I have never sold, so how is it that these were used?

Later, Paul.

There should be a way to report this and have the coins removed from "His" inventory.

Same thing happened to me when I decided to fix/update my set across the street... there were at least 3 sets with my coins listed.

    Kind of strange...

So do they not care that many sets are bogus?

Were does it show that the Miami Heat Collection is using your numbers? His set is obscured and no coins or numbers are shown.

    This post was completely delted.

I agree with you. Anyone who would resort to stealing numbers, is at the very least a loser. I posted this thread in the Registry Message board ATS.

I recieved a PM from an anonymous person, for whom I have hi regards was using my cert#'s to see where his customers set would be if he had BOUGHT my Clad Roosie set, which was for sale a few months ago. The coins were immeadiately removed from his set when this customer decided to not purchase my set. Somehow some of my clad only Roosies from 1997-Date, did not get removed from his inventory. This had nothing to do with his current #1 Silver set. This has turned out to be a total misunderstanding and has been since rectified.

    He has my sincere apology,

    Paul Gunsallus.

Seems like with the new "What If" function there'd be no need.

True, except NGC doesn't have that feature.

When you get the email from across the street, they list the name of the set where the coin is listed... that's probably the reason why he knew where the coins were.

    Gotcha, thanks for that information.

WHEN POSTS ARE DELTED IT MAKES OTHER POSTERS LOOK LIKE COMPLETE BLOOMING IDIOTS.

Maybe just a good explanation below the original post and within the same post would suffice instead of delting. What ya say......image

Mistakes are made and posters here can live with that. Delting is hard to take.

  • Odds are, many of his coins are not his. Heck are any his? NGC should do away with obscured sets. I don't get obscuring your own set.

Does NGC still allow PCGS coins in their Registry?

OK, but I don't get something........'his set' is the potential buyer's, or the potential middleman's?
Maybe it doesn't matter, except to say this kind of behavior would pizz me off too.
The least they could have done is get your permission to do such a thing, avoiding a misunderstanding like this.
