Sorry no tracking number you didn't pay for insurance...

So I buy a card on 4/19 on the bay.
$7.20 + $3.00 S&H and I had the option of buying the insurance for $5image Needless to say I passed on insurance.

Other than the automated end of auction e-mail I got nothing else from him.

On April 26th I just sent a quick question on when card was shipped.

On the 27th I received the following from him:
"Sorry was sick. Sent April 25th" Damn SOOOOOOOOOOOO many people are sick or have deaths in the family when I buy their items.

So I e-mail him back on 5/3 and say "Still waiting. Please forward tracking information."

He responds with.......wait for it.......... "item was ship last friday, there's no tracking # because the insurance option wasn't used"

So I opened a dispute with paypal and he has yet to answer. I sent him another note telling him I would like my $$ refunded but to know that if the card did show up I would remit funds back to him. I have yet to hear anything back from him.

I wonder how shocked he will be when I get my $$ back even though I didn't purchase his optional $5 insurance.

I have a feeling that such sellers will SOON be gone.

Your money will be refunded, of course.

At least "April 25th" and "last Friday" appear to be the same day. I have had buyers who made similar statements, and when I get the item, it was actually sent the day that I sent my second inquiry. I would think that you will get the item.

I feel your frustration. I've had to send friendly reminders from time to time when several weeks pass with no card received and no communication from the seller. Only once can I recall a seller who simply owned up and said, "Oops, I goofed. Not sure how I overlooked that one. I'll send it right away. Sorry." All other times it's been "I was sick, I was out of town, My cat sent the wrong card, etc." Excuses, excuses.

Thankfully, and perhaps luckily, I've yet to receive any cards that were damaged during shipping. I've gotten lots of over-graded pieces of junk, but they were junk before they hit the post office. I hope it turns out well for you.

If you haven't already, dont forget to escalate the paypal dispute to a claim.

I gave him until tomorrow at 5PM to refund my $$ before doing this.

I realize that I cannot hold other sellers to how I conduct myself on Ebay but the total lack of communication and the piss poor excuses get to me sometimes.

What is the timetable to file a dispute or a claim?

I'm not sure about opening a dispute but once it is opened you need to escalate it to a claim within 20 days.

I recently had a guy tell me he was in a car accident and he'd send the item as soon as his cast was off. I wanted to ask for a picture of the car and the cast, but I didn't.

  • Well the story of my life since last Tuesday would be made for Ebay, BUT it has not slowed down my shipping at all.. So yes these things do happen, but it is not a real excuse because customers do not care about these things.

Last Tuesday a friend and Texas DPS officer Scott Burns was gunned down during a traffic stopped, then Thursday my wifes grandmother passed away to top it off Friday a friend of mines daughter was killed in the Arkansas storms last Friday.

I had a buyer back out once because he had to bail his girlfriend out of jail.

That's the first time I heard that one.

Not to be Mr. Positive but it COULD still be in the mail. It's possible. I think you were a tad quick to file the dispute. Just my opinion.

What does insurance have to do with tracking? Delivery confirmation would have worked for that seller too.

If that seller was in your shoes and was a buyer he would be freaking out on you.

I try not to deal with wannabe dealers. Collectors are ok for the most part.

I am almost TOTALLY evil. BUT, I cannot imagine giving excuses to internet
buyers about why I took their money and did not promptly send their junk.

The carp that honest sellers are now enduring at the hands of PayPal
and EBAY are a direct result of the SCUM that have been allowed to lie,
cheat and steal with NO consequences.

ALL corrupt sellers should pass away immediately.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the auctionended only a couple weeks ago. Give it a chance before you start filing all kinds of stuff on him, you even filed before giving him a chance to refund? And really he shouldn't have to refund yet, give it at least 3 weeks before you get antsy.

"I try not to deal with wannabe dealers. "

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////

The dream that EBAY delivered was that ANYBODY could become
a dealer of collectibles. I supported and encouraged that "dream."
In retrospect, I made a mistake.

NOT everybody is cut-out to perform as required in a mail-order
business. My egalitarian and inclusive approach to expanding the
collectible industry was a BIG error.

Our collective reputations have been heartily damaged by the lazy
SCUM that is adept at cashing the checks, BUT not worth a darn at
    delivering the ordered merch.

EBAY's new scheme is NOW going to slam the door in the face of
virtually ALL new entrants to the game. I am no longer sad about that.

Ordinarily, that is the correct position.

BUT, when you have a WORTHLESS seller telling people they are shafted
because they "didn't buy insurance," the wrath of heck needs to be swiftly
    delivered.

If the OP had waited the appropriate/reasonable time to act, the BUM seller
would have STILL given the "no insurance" nonsense.

Sellers like this MUST go and they must go NOW.

Yes it could. It's coming from a major hub, Milwaukee so it should be here faster than somewhere in the sticks. I told him to refund by Wednesday before I go to the next step.

If it does come in the meantime I will stop all actions. Of course if I see a postmard later than April 25th he will be getting a negative from me.

I have been on both sides on this before. It once took 32 days for a package to get to Phoenix from Boston. I refunded the buyer after17 days and when he got the package he sent me the $$ back.

I would hold that NEG until after the week of May 19.

Once the FB scheme changes, there is a chance that the
bad seller will not be able to retaliate EVEN on retrospective
    transactions.

    Wait.

  • You paid on the 19th according to Paypal he would have until the 26th to ship under most other guidelines he would have 30 days. Granted he should have had it in the mail sooner, but 6 days is not enough to get into a pissing contest over. Especially on a 10 dollar item.

Many items are taking alot longer than normal right now due to the weather in many parts of the country in recent weeks.

    LOL
I can tell you that my fingers are itching to leave a neg for a seller, May 19th can't come soon enough for me.
I won an auction that I later found out, almost 1 month later that the seller didn't even have the card I won in hand, he was waiting on another seller that fell through to deliver to him.
  • Last I read anything prior to May 19th the sellers will still be able to neg back.

    There are MANY conflicting reports.

The "retrospective" stuff seems unfair, BUT EBAY is notoriously "unfair."

I would wait until the week of the 19th, just in case.

    Update:

My $$ was refunded yesterday. He probably would have been covered if he had only added .75 to the postage for D/C.

On another note I did receive a card yesterday that I thought would suffer the same fate. It was mailed from Northern NJ on 4/30 and it came yesterday. Could have walked it here faster.
