Real or fake - Mexican

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,460 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've finally have gotten around to looking into some of the boxes I packed before our move to the new house and came across these Mexican coins. Are they authentic or fakes? The fist coin weighs 26.6g, the second 26.5g, and the third 26.9g. Thanks.

They're probably just hoard pieces. Do they all have a similar ring? Do you have a known genuine piece to which you can compare the ring?

The third one look original, but corroded (environmental damage?). The first two, I'm not really sure. Probably authentic, but I would definitely do the ring test that Josh suggested, or SG testing, if you're set-up for it.

I definately am not set up for a specific gravity test.

I could never get the ring test down right. I have a couple Tristan da Cunha crowns which I can't determine if they are silver or not. image

I don't have a known authentic peso to compare the three with.
