Do a PSA DNA Quick Opinion on it.
  • Absolutely not...Kirby has one of the best signatures and being a big Kirby fan, that one is definitely fake.

Thanks guys, I'll stay away from it. I would have done a quick opinion but the auction ends in less then 24 hours so they don't guarantee to get back to you in time.

The 1985 Topps Puckett is a no-go...wouldn't you want a signed 1984 Fleer Update anyway?

It looks like all the cards this guy is selling are signed with the same blue Sharpie. Geez, at least use a few different markers for your fakes. Some people...

No chance, not even 1%...and I've been buying and selling thousands of his autos for almost 20 years.

BTW $50 is way too high for a Kirby auto w/o first rate COA unless its a limited production insert.

Edit to add: even that Leaf auto is poor. It looks authentic but he signs sooo much better if he's not cranking 3000 or them out at Twinsfest.

I don't see this one as being authentic. Kirby has signed at least 40 items for me through the years beginning in 1984 all the way through 2006. His autograph definitely changed from the early year's but this one is very questionable (at best).

All the autographs that seller has are forgeries. He's also got Ripken, Joe Carter, Sandberg, and Clemens, all bad. Since he's got a pretty high feedback rating and 99.6 positives, I'm sure he probably bought a collection and doesn't know any better.

Actually, the auto isn't terrible for an early career Puckett. However, most of the TTM autograph requests were actually signed by his father in-law at the time. I only know this because my stepfather worked with him. There are a ton of wheaties boxes from the 87 series that have his "autograph" on it too. about half were signed by his father in law. I have a whole stack of Puckett rc's that I had signed from the late 80's and about half are questionable, and look VERY similar to this one.
