Two months and counting GOT GRADES 5/8/08

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,602 ✭✭✭✭✭
PCGS now has had my World coin submission for two months. My credit card has been charged and paid. I wonder how much longer before I get grades.

All depends upon how PCGS is feeling ... last World Modern I did was logged 02/13 and shipped 04/16 ... so it should be soon.
    1st You Suck - 04/07/05 - Thanks MadMarty!

Thats one reason I sent my world submission to NGC. 10 day turnaround.

44 non weekend days. How many days PCGS worked I don't know.

5 World Value coins received by NGC: 4/24 - status changed today to Scheduled for Grading
2 mechanical errors (pretty much re-holder) received by PCGS: 4/22 - status ... who knows...

Chances are I'll receive my NGC submission back before the mechanical errors from PCGS.

With PCGS I always feel like I'm begging for alms, like they have other priorities and could care less about the customer. That's why next time my PCGS subscription comes for a renewal I will have to kiss it good bye and switch to NGC.

What really annoys me is I can go to the PCGS shared orders page and see World coin orders that were logged in 2 weeks after my order and they have already shipped. It appears they are not 5 day submissions. Where's the rhyme or reason?

Well, well. Grades posted today. These are my grades:

    14 1 12839635 31714 1883-H 25C CANADA VF25
    15 1 12839636 31803 1919 25C CANADA AU55 ex ICCS AU55 Looked MS61 to me
    16 1 12839637 31851 1938 25C CANADA MS61 ex ANACS AU58 (new holder)
    17 1 12839638 32186 1941 50C CANADA MS62 ex ICCS MS60
    18 1 12839639 32188 1943 50C Far 3 CANADA AU58 ex ICCS MS60

Some may question why I submitted these. I was checking PCGS's grading standards. I wanted to see if they were tighter or looser than some of the TPG. I wanted to check my grading against PCGS on the 1883-H 25c. I thought it was a VF20.

    I don't see how the 1943 50c graded as non-MS.

I would like to see it because the Canadian Halves from the 1940's can be tough to grade... I would like to see the coin that lead to the difference of opinions...
