Is Steve from bbcexchange breaking packs and submitting them to PSA?

I won the card below from Steve on Ebay last night. He had some awesome cards up for auction that all looked pack fresh.

I bought it for $19. This is higher than what the average is on VCP, but I love the look of this card, al ittle off center but the over all apeal looks great to me.

I'd rather see a 9(OC) on a card like that.
  • I would have spent $20 all day but I am a Frank RObinson fan so if I like a card then I spend what I want.

It could well have been a 9(OC).

Obviously, the submitter requested no Qs.

The Q cards are still just a little too hard to sell.
BUT, 9(OC) does tell the buyer ALOT more about
    such a card.

It looks like a painting. Nice.

I've won auctions from Steve on ebay that were for sure consignments. I don't know if all of his auctions are, but I'm sure at least some are. I can't blame him for using his great reputation to help some people sell their cards.

Nothing but perfect service from him, always.

I bought a 63F BB PSA 8 card from him - doubt it was pulled from a pack.

Why not email and ask? I doubt - as a businessman - that he would gamble - packs are worth way more sold as such, IMO.

On my last 3 subs I have gotten back cards with the OC qualifier and some
net graded down. I did not ask for NQ.

    2 nites ago I sold a card (8 0C) that went for 205.00, the night before a 6 went for 75.00

    worked for me...that time.

I also doubt that Steve is busting packs for grading. He gets alot on consignment.

    Good for you.

Steve might occasionally come across a resealed pack or a slightly opened one that he can't sell as unopened - may as well bust and grade to recoup what he can. Would only seem logical when dealing with unopened material in volume. Crisp Robby either way.

He put in ad in the new SMR that he's buying all graded cards. He's probably made some decent coin off singles over the past year so he's branching out that part of his business. I met him for the first time at the Philly show and he really knows his stuff. Great guy to buy from.

I know he was consigning stuff for people too. I don't think he's cracking the stuff and grading it.

Heckuva nice 6 - Looks like it has a little corner ding which of course knocks it down to a 6

    Nice F. Robby card.

Steve once told me he doesn't bust packs. The graded cards are coming from either consignments, sets he's purchased that he's graded out, or outright graded card deals he's purchased.

A friend of mine just consigned a few 9's with him and got some pretty solid results. Steve and Mike (who does most of his ebay listings) are great to deal with. Honest and trustworthy, two words that are rarely used when referring to most sportscard dealers.

I noticed Dave and Adam's card world placed an ad that they are in the single graded card business also.

STeve has ads now in th SMR asking to BUY cards and graded cards, not just unopened stuff....so he is probably buying these graded cheaply and selling them using his name...

dont thtink hes opening product LOL

I heard somewhere that Steve placed an ad in the SMR looking to buy graded cards. Any truth to this?

I agree. Steve should put an ad in the SMR if he's looking to buy single graded cards. He'd have a captive audience! Now why didn't he think of that?
  • Thats a pretty nasty rumor you guys are trying to start.. The nerve of some people..

I think it is almost worth quitting the hobby over.
