Krause lists the fineness of soveriegns of this period at .917-
Thus The coins listed are only about 22k.
The term carat, spelled with a "c," refers to the weight of a gemstone.
The term karat spelled with a "k" refers to the pureness of gold.
While the term "carrot" refers to rabbit food.
