Question on early Argentine coinage.

It seems to me that the early federal coinage of Argentina is less crudely made than other coins of the surrounding areas at that time. I am not talking about the Cordoba issues, but the reales and escudos of the Provencias del Rio de la Plata. Am I correct or imagining things?
