Rarest MODERN card you've owned? And miss?

Is there a rare, hard to find modern card that you've owned that you wished you hadn't gotten rid of?

For me a few come to mind:

1. 1998 Bowman Chrome Golden Anniversary Refractor Ken Griffey Jr. /5

2. 1999 Stadium Club Quad Co-Signers Helton/Grieve/Sexson/Glaus (rumored to be less than 10 made)

3. Any one of my '00 UD 3000 Hit Club autos - May auto/bat/jersey /24, Aaron auto/bat/jersey /44, Musial auto/jersey /6....etc. I was 11 cards short of completing the entire insert set.

I'm sure there are other cards I've owned that I "miss", but those are the ones I think of mor than I'd like to admit. image

"Rarest modern" card is kind of an oxymoron.

Do you mean 1/1 or #/10 type print runs?

I don't own any - never pulled a short print of this type.

I have a Marvin Miller auto card 1/10 - but I still own it.

A card I would like - that I would consider rare is the special Bush Topps card.

I do own proof cards that would be more rare but hardly scarce.

edit: I just realized the /24 e.g. is #/24 - so forget the question about print run.

It's not the rarest, but it's the one I miss the most. I plan to replace it someday if I can track one down.

2000 Upper Deck A Piece of History 3000 Hit Club Jersey/Bat card of Hank Aaron serial numbered to 100. I hadn't touched a pack of cards in 8 years and was feeling a little under the weather one day. I drove to a card shop and picked up a box. When I pulled that card I was in shock (and felt quite a bit better). I had never heard of memorabilia cards at the time.

I sold that card for just under $400 at the time...so I have no complaints about that. Part of me does wish I would've kept it, though.
  • I hear ya Gumby. Sweet card. I pulled that same Aaron bat/jersey /100 and the Musial dual jersey/bat /50 out of MVP packs. I was hooked on the set from there.

Not really rare, but I pulled an Elway Jersey/Auto from 1999 SPx and sold it for $200 back then. I think it was numbered out of 250 or 500. Also pulled an Edgerrin James auto RC out of that box- by far the best modern box I've ever opened. I'd kind of like to have those 2 cards back because of the fun I had opening the box.
  • I have several 1/1's and you have probably all seen my vlad 1/1 mlb logo, so i will share this card

I pulled a dual auto Topps card of Branca and Thompson in 2000 or 2001 that I wish I kept. There was a smudge on it from one of them when they touched the ink right after signing it. It was the only good card I pulled back in those days but was so disappointed in the tiny smudge that I sold it on Ebay

I once had a 1997 Donruss Diamond Kings insert of Bernie Williams that was serial numbered to 10,000. One of the rarest cards I ever owned.

  • 1982 Topps Blackless Rickey Henderson PSA 8
  • I had 2 George Mikan 2003-04 UD Legends Inscriptions serial numbered to 100 with his nickname "Mr. Basketball" but I sold them both image

If I would have kept those two I would have 4 of them right now.

There are 100 of these bad boys, not that rare. However, from a monetary standpoint, these bad boys consistently bring over $1200. This remains my best pull of all time, 10 years ago, at the age of 14.

edit to add: I don't really miss this card, I didn't see that stipulation, I still own it. It is in storage in Georgia, while I'm in Houston, so I guess I miss it from that angle.
