Ok so you want to see coins on occasion.

Here is the first picture of a nupe from CICF to be photographed and I need to retake it because the obverse is not sharp. However, forgetting the bad photo this coin is very interesting, obviously proof, somewht double struck with sharp rims. Krause say proof exist but none of my German dealer or collector friends have ever seen one and Jaeger does not admit they exist. It is the first year of the consolidtion and this coin while probably not unique is virtually unknown in proof. Can anyone add to this hypotesis?

It could be a presentation piece. As for a hypothesis, it would be a presentation piece likely struck shortly after German Unification and given possibly to heads of State or Ambassadors. The problem with this hypothesis is determining how many were struck as well as who would have received one. Is there one in the British Museum or the Smithsonian?
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Seriously, it certainly looks Proof; could it possibly be an Erstabschlag? It is certainly a scarce (even rare) example. A great find - Congrats
Edited to add: AKS indicates there were Proof strikings of this type for 1871-A, 1872-A, 1873-A and 1873-C.
As you know, I had it in hand at Chicago and it is a proof and everyone that saw it agreed that it is a proof, including CoinKing
