Rickey Henderson Cards?

I've been collecting Rickey Henderson cards for a while. Do you guys think his cards will be worth money in the future? I think they will he's a Hall Of Famer, but lately there hasn't been much demand on eBay for his cards. What do you guys think?

Only in 9's and 10's. chaz
  • I don't know if there will be a demand in the future, but I am a big collector of his, and I have noticed I have been able to "steal" a few PSA 10's on ebay these past few months. I don't think you will see a significant drop in his cards in 10 down the road, but then again, reading the threads on here the last few weeks, many people think all modern cards won't be worth anything in the future.

As history repeats itself, his rookie card will have a small spike as he is inducted, with greater realization in the mint and gem grades. He will always be collectible, and you can't really get hurt with todays prices. His on-card autos are relatively scarce, with 2006 sterling really helping the situation.

as a Rickey Henderson collector myself, i predict all of his cards will be worth approximately $400,000 each one day.

Not much, he played in the worst era for collectibles to have any future value.

In the 80s and early 90s I heavily collected Henderson and probably have almost every issue from that time frame including oddballs. To be honest I doubt his cards will have much value from where they are today, because he was not universally loved.

If I could pick up a cheap '80 PSA 9, I'd do it just because.

I don't really have any interest in a "modern" 10, though. Every card made from the 80's and up should be a 10.

Remember, when speaking of Rickey, you must speak of Rickey in the third person. With that said, here is a quote from Rickey himself:

"Rickey will be collectible because Rickey think Rickey is collectible. Rickey will be a first ballot Hall of Famer. Rickey is the greatest."

All kidding aside, Rickey is my all time favorite baseball player. If I ever needed to fess up a sport "mancrush," Rickey would be it. I would like to pick up more of his cards just because he is awesome.

AMEN - there may be many legendary hitters and pitchers, past and present, but there will ALWAYS only be ONE RICKEY!

    RICKEY ROCKS!

  • Here is your answer, some 16 months later: Rickey Henderson Lot. i have this listed on ebay ending in one day, and getting no bids.
I collect PSA graded 1980-81 Basketball.

Successful transactions with bouwob, lifeshouldbefun, SDSportsFan, Bkritz, tsalems1, kwtoz, johnny1976, Topps29, Calaban7, nascar20, bking, bedellsonics, Beck6, Dialj, Echocanyon, mdkuom, gosteelers, artimus.
  • The Rickey called and said Rickey was worth more than $10 and that Rickey was offended that no one is bidding on Rickey.
  • Modern cards that are scarce such as the 82 Topps Blackless #610 Henderson should always have a good value.

I think you'll get some bids.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • I am hoping. I also have a Tony Gwynn lot and Nolan Ryan lot up too. I would have thought that I would have received more than just one bid total so far on these lots. A handful of watchers, but no takers yet. I am kind of glad with the Ryan lot that I did not add the magazines, the newspapers, the pins, and other stuff that I collected of Ryan through the years.
