Not a beginner's book, but worth reading.

I haven't read this one, but it's more likely the best choice for a beginner.

They have "The Sovereign" in stock, the other one is sold out.

Does anyone know whether the The Sovereign book cover Australian sovereigns as well as British Sovereigns?

    Thanks.
  • Most soverign books cover all Sovereigns and Branch mints, the only books that don't are the Australian Coin Guides, they do not cover anything but Australian sovereigns completely ignoring all other works image

Best source for books on the web is AddAll, it searchs all the book sites including Amazon, Alibris, Abebooks and VCoins.

The Gold Sovereign by Michael Marsh is not the best guide to Australian coins, but it DOES list them

You could try Greg McDonald's publication "The Pocket Guide to Australian Coins and Banknotes" 15th Ed
    ISBN 978-0-9751244-8-2

All coin shops in Australia sell it, as do sellers on eBay, and the mint (RAM) sells it too..
  • I highly recommend avoiding the McDonald guide, it ignores every other publication and is very confusing.

    Can't see what's confusing about it ??

Anyway, the best book would be the one that comes with the 2005 Australia Proof sovereign "150th Anniversary". get one of those. Its called AUSTRALIA'S SOVEREIGNS
  • I've ordered "The Sovereign" for now to start with.

Thank you for all the info and advice.
  • If you can cancel the order do ( if you want ) and you can have my copy cheaper. imageimage

This comes with a caveat though: I am based in Ireland ( think shipping )
The meaning of life ? I don't know but I am sure that coins have something to do with it.

    Zar's Ebay

I will check tomorrow whether they'll allow me to cancel if I wish.

What's your price including s/h to US?
