? about donating cards to charity and taxes

My dad is planning on donating a bunch of cards to some charity that will take them for kids. tax wise, what is he allowed to claim as far is the value? is there a blanket x-cents per card? does he need to add up each individual card and take a percent the total?

Any help would be appreciated.

I can't remember which I used, but it was either 2.5 - 5 cents per card.
