newp: 3 Cap and Rays 8 Reales pics added

I attended a coin this past weekend. They entrance fee was $2 or 1 Euro. Funny thing was that I actually had a couple of Euro's in the car from a previous trip that I could of used.

Anyway, I went to the show to see a favorite dealer of mine. I couldn't make up my mine between three cap and rays so I bought all three. All raw and not too hard on the budget.
1. 1863 VL Zacatecas mint. weak strike but still close to au.
2. 1883 AE Oaxaca mint. better date, really liked toned reverse.
3. 1890 CN Culican mint. nice ms tough to put down.

I bought a 1879 Chihuahua 8 Reales because it matched an illustration
in Tom Lea's 1952 western novel The Wonderful Country.

That is a nice 1879 WillieBoyd2 and thanks for the mini history lesson.
  • Wow! Very impressive. The 8 reales are my favorite. I enjoy holding a silver dollar size coin. I too started collecting 8 reales but am trying to focues on the ones from Guanajuato. Check out my set registry at Mexico Collection Its nowhere near complete but its a good headstart. Once again, very impressive.
