Newp Guess the Grade 1915 Mexico Peso - Grade Posted

I have branched out a little from the Republic Era of Cap and Rays.

I thought I would share the coin and extend an offer to guess what grade the coin was assigned and to add any comments.

I like the thought of collecting the revolution series pieces but need to learn more about them.

Well, I suck at grading the crude pieces. My first guess is AU58, but could easily see MS if some of the glare areas aren't actually wear...

I think it is a 63... very nice example

edited to add: I like these and own two

edited to add again... I like the cap and rays as well... I look for them when I can and they can be quite a challenge to grade

I'd say MS (all that lovely unworn featherwork on the eagle) 62. Great piece.

61 for a soft strike and possible damage on the obverse. I still like the coin though. -Dan

Is there a word of some significance beneath the left side of the cactus on the reverse? image

The inscription is Revilla, the designer of that side of the coin.

The cap and ray side in inscripted Salazar, the designer.

these coins usually are very weakly struck... this example is better than most I have seen

    Forgive me for saying this:

But the Liberty Cap on this coin looks like a big pile of dog doo. image

Thanks for the grading and the comments. The coin is an NGC MS63.

I purchased the coin this weekend without knowing very much about the series but it was from a trusted dealer.

I also picked up some nice average and above average 8 reales.

Don't leave us in suspense... what 8Rs where you able to find?

My last pick up was an 1839 MO that I am going to submit when I get around to it
